About
Louise Salaun is an independent jewellery design practice based in Margate, England.
Founded by designer Louise Salaun, whose background spans over a decade in fashion design and product development, the practice explores the relationship between objects and personal significance.
With an interest in making the intangible tangible, Louise centres the collection on contemporary talismans - objects conceived as vessels for desire.
Process
Each design is developed in Louise's Margate studio, beginning with sketches and experiments in form, material and proportion.
Working primarily with recycled sterling silver and natural gemstones, pieces are made by hand or cast in the UK before being individually finished and stone-set in the studio. Each stone is selected for its colour, pattern and natural variation.
For Louise, making has become a personal ritual, particularly during periods of uncertainty.
The Contemporary Talisman
Talismans have existed across cultures and centuries, taking many forms and carrying different meanings.
Louise's work considers their place in contemporary life, where the significance of an object is shaped by the person who chooses it.
Collection I is accompanied by the Reconnection Ritual, a guided practice offering space for reflection and personal intention.
